Questions Answered
How long does it take to EYE-DEED my belongings?
The process requires two agents approximately 1-2 hours.
Am I taking a risk letting someone inventory everything in my house or business?
Our agents all undergo a background check/drug screening, and wear a photo ID when they come to your house.
What if I sell or give away something on my list?
When you sell or give away an item which has been EYE-DEED, you can notify us that it should no longer be considered in your possession. Just call our toll-free number, 877-223-0911 or go to our web site, update, to identify the item. You will need to use your password so we can verify that you are authorized to remove the item from consideration.
What about things like jewelry that are too small to engrave? Or valuables that would be marred by an engraved number?
We use eleven ways to place a permanent ID number on items, including engraving and labeling with UV pens and other instruments. We use a variety of methods based on the type of item. For example, a UV pen creates a mark that can only be seen under a UV lamp. On expensive items like jewelry, our agents have the same, high end engraving equipment like jewelry stores use.
How long will the EYE-DEED marks last ?
Our research and development department has ongoing test with different inks and different sealants on many surfaces and conditions. The inks we use for the UV process are rated for 10 years and we have a variety of sealants we use on top of that. We have ongoing test in direct sunlight, different weather conditions, different water and humidity exposures and abrasion test.
Can't I just buy a UV pen and light and ID my own stuff?
Sure, but some of the many benefits in using our service are, our database, our relationship with police stations and pawnshops, the photography, the child EYE-DEED kits, our attendance at police auctions and swap meets. Were in the property identification business, we know what were doing, and we do it right.
Why don’t I just take the photos myself?
You could mark your own items, but unless you include your name, address, and phone number on each one, the police or pawn shops wouldn’t know who to call. By using our professional services you receive many benefits, including our relationship with police stations and pawnshops, professional digital photography, and child EYE-DEED kits. Also, we attend police auctions and swap meets to check for EYE-DEED items. We’re in the property identification business, we know what were doing, and we do it right.
What items should be included in your identification?
Anything you feel is valuable or that you think a thief might take.
What if the thief scratches out the number you engrave?
You will still have a photo record to aid police in identifying the item. And if the item’s number is made with a UV mark, the thief won’t even know it is there.
Do I need this kind of service if I’m just renting my apartment or home?
Many of our customers are renters. The belongings inside are still yours and deserve protection whether you own your home or rent. Your EYE-DEED number is yours forever. As you move, you just change your contact information in our database.
Do you engrave very large objects, like big-screen TVs, that would need to be moved?
We will do the engraving, but you are responsible for moving the item so that the back or other area to be engraved is accessible.
What if something comes up and I have to reschedule an appointment?
There will be no additional charge for rescheduling if we have at least 24 hours’ notice. A $10.00 fee will be added for rescheduling with shorter notice.
